How many sessions will we need?
The number of sessions required will vary, depending on the young person and the nature and severity of their issues.
Counselling can be brief and solution focussed; this usually lasts for 6-8 sessions
Open ended counselling last as long as the young person feels they need the support. The counsellor will review at regular intervals to ensure your child is able to choose their own ending and work towards it successfully.
Your child is unique and therefore our approach to their needs must be unique too. It is recommended that you make an appointment for a 30-minute initial assessment first so we can ensure we know exactly what they need.
After your initial assessment, if we (that's you and us) choose to continue then we will discuss the number of sessions that may be required and a 'contract' for the work will be agreed. The working contract is simply to ensure that all know what to expect from each other, the sessions are, of course, voluntary and you, or your child, may choose leave at any time.
Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes
Initial Assessments will last for 30 minutes
We want this service to be available to all young people who need it, so therefore we do operate a sliding scale for families on low incomes or benefits. The standard rate fees are used to support the low-fee and subsidised fee work that I offer to other clients. If you think you may qualify for reduced fees, please mention this on initial contact. Please don't be offended if we ask to see proof of your income.
The fee is payable for cancelled sessions, unless sufficient notice (24 hours) is given.

We understand that if your child is going through a difficult time, that this will also be upsetting and worrying for you. Please feel free to contact us by telephone or email to discuss any concerns you may have about your child having counselling.
